The Wildlife Research Institute is an established public, non-profit, 501(c)(3), charitable organization, formed to conduct research, education, and management of wildlife and wildlife habitat. WRI promotes timely conservation biology through cooperative programs with private citizens, agencies, industry and academia.
The Wildlife Research Institute's Membership Program provides a way for you, your corporation, or your organization to become actively and personally involved in Wildlife Conservation and Education.

  • Educational Outreach such as our Hawk Watch Program & Lecture Series.
  • Habitat Preservation & Wildlife Corridor Protection including "The Ramona Grasslands Project" which is working to preserve 8,000 acres of endangered California Grasslands.
  • Golden Eagle Research and Banding to track migratory routes and populations for development of protection policies by landowners and agencies. Ongoing studies in California, Montana and New Mexico.
  • Surveys of Golden Eagle Breeding & Nesting Activity to determine the effect of human population growth on our local San Diego eagle population. (45 pair remain from original 90 pair)
  • Scientific Data to state, federal and county agencies for biological planning, such as the Multiple Species Conservation Plan for San Diego County.
  • Cooperative Work with landowners, non-governmental agencies and businesses.
